  • Faulty used car purchased with in 6 months

Hello, Im looking for some advise please, I purchased a used car from an AA dealership in October and around 2 weeks after I reported a load rattle when accelerating, they told me to take it to there local garage which I did and they say they checked under the car and theirs nothing loose or wrong, now it has broken down completely. I took it to a local garage and they have checked and said there is a serious long standing fault with the engine and it will need a full strip down, they advised it would be around £2000 to do + labour and VAT. I bought the car for £4100 so hasn't really got that value to it.
I have contact the garage about it but they say they only give me 3 months warranty, I pointed out the consumer rights act gives 6 months they got a bit nasty and told me to send it in writing what I want done. I have spoken to CAB who have advised to send a letter by recorded mail requesting a repair which I did and they have basically ignored me but say they have sent it to there lawyers "legal solutions" who will send me a letter in due course, this was last week and I have heard nothing more.
The time frame for them to deal with it is up tomorrow and I have yet to receive any letter, The CAB have said once the time frame to respond is up to send a letter before court action which is fine, I have this all ready to go. My question is dose any one know this lawyer company and what the likely outcome of the letter will be? If I have to go to a small claims court, can I claim back the expense I and my partner have had since the car broke down i.s. bus tickets?
    Many thanks
