  • Direct Access Barrister - Fees Dispute

    Hi everyone,
I had a Telephone conference with a Barrister after a payment of £1500. We started the telephone call very well, but he ended the call abruptly after asking me to present more documents.
After checking hundreds of emails, I sent him 3 documents as sample of the relationship between me and the defendant. He asked me to pay additional £500 +VAT to review them.
I asked him if there would be another charges if he sought more documents, because there are many more documents leading to the same conclusion and that if I have to send more I fear I will not afford the fees, specially no advise was given so far.

The Barrister did not clearly answer my question. he just replied: "Please send me £ 500 plus VAT and we will fix this up" and. "I can only suggest that we have a fresh discussion. For that, I will charge £ 500 plus VAT."

Can members recommend how to deal with the Barrister to get him to conclude his consultation based on the initial documents supplied only and to ignore any other documents since he did not review any of it .
    Thank you
