debt sold to lowell from sky nearly 6 years later

just checked my lowell account as i have been havinf some issues with an existing fraud case. noticed there is a new account for sky from 2015 at an address i wasnt even registered at it was my ex partners address. rang lowell explained i have never had a sky account. they bhave not put anything on my credit report and in june 2021 it woukd have been 6 years since the account was opened. can lowell put a default on my credit account this long after if i refuse to pay foir a bill that isnt mine
