  • Additonal Charge from Courier company on top of customs duties

    Hello there,
Recently I ordered and received some electrolytes from the US. I paid for the item plus delivery. Later I received a bill for customs duty which was £5.78 and an advancement fee of £12.
Is the advancement fee something I have to pay? There was no mention of this at the time of ordering.
I have written to the company but they simply sent out another invoice and didn't reply directly to my letter. I then sent another letter to clarify but they simply sent another invoice insisting I pay, so I sent the customs part of the invoice. Subsequently, it has been given over to a debt collector who have increased the charge and insist i pay. Should i simply pay the new bill of £21.28 ?
