  • Claim from county court under my name but it is not my debt

    Hi there,

I received a county court claim from Lowell for a debt under my name. But it is not my debt. It is my past employer’s debt. While employed as assistant he asked me to put my name on many bills in order to liaise with customer service easily on his behalf. But the direct debit was set with his bank details. ( I realise now it was a mistake I was not experimented at that time) I have been made redundant and he cancelled / close the account . As a result apparently 4 months of bills haven’t been paid total £4000 before the account was closed and lines cut. I have explained the situation to Lowell saying that I didn’t personally failed to pay any bills as I never started to pay as it was my past employer who always paid the bills through the direct debit. I asked them to chase my past employer directly. They said they can’t ask a third party directly. I am not in touch anymore with my past employer as he was a nasty one, he did many things to arm me and I am pretty sure this case is in this purpose too.

So how can I have Lowell to remove the claim against me and chase my past employer instead ?

If we go to court do you think the judge Will understand my situation and be in my favour ?

    Many thanks
