  • Can I take action against my local council

I have lived my property for nearly 30 years, locally to me when I first moved to the area was a furniture warehouse known as ELS. Unfortunately the business closed. After some time the council developed the area to change it into a small business estate. We the residents were concerned at the time, but we were assured the businesses would be no more than warehousing. Over the years though our council as relaxed this promise, and we now have to endure noise, smells, mess and litter of heavier business. At meetings with our council over the changes of use, one council planner pointed out that we do live next to a industrial estate. Where does the law stand, as we feel we are being bullied and have no representation.
