RBS sold to Cabot - 5 years 11 months default

Hi I have a CC default due to expire on 07th July 2020, although have just received a letter from Cabot/RBS saying the debt has been sold to Cabot

I understand they purchase bad/old debts for a small price

What are my options? No payment or written correspondence has been made to RBS since default in July 2014, and the last payment via a CMA was December 2014 as I fell into financial difficulty

The balance is £2,200 and I do not have enough to pay the full amount. I am worried about any impact to my credit report with the default due to drop off in approx 10 days
