I’ve just found out from an employment search that I had a CCJ in default issued against me for almost £4000 in 2017 to Cabot Financial. On calling Restons I found that the debt relates to a Tesco loan taken out in 2011 and defaulted in 2013 with a spell of severe mental health difficulty. The claim was issued against my maiden name (married in 2013) and at a previous address. I’ve tried calling them with to see if they will agree to set aside for immediate payment in full, but they refused on the grounds they don’t do ‘credit restoration’.My concerns are primarily my new job and being dismissed due to the CCJ, and also financial prospects after years of trying to rebuild some financial security. What are my options now - should I attempt to have the CCJ set aside or is there little reasonable prospect of success? I need to get copies of the claim and judgement from the court but having difficulty getting through to the court again. I was unaware the debt had been sold to Cabot.
