"Re-refund"

Hello,

I received a refund from PayPal after using PayPal to pay for a service. The service provider hasn't contacted me and my account still shows the successful transaction therefore the refund came directly from paypal. They have since stated that the refund was an error and that they would take the money back from my account.

I don't have any issues with paying back the money but my question is whether or not a company can provide a refund then try and take that refund back.
