  • COVID-19 / Furlough / Job Retention Scheme - During termination notice

    Hi all,

    I have just been made aware that my employer is going to be enforcing Furlough leave as part of the UK Corona Virus job retention scheme, where it will see employees paid 80% of their monthly salary during this period.

    I have been working for my current employer for 14 years and as it stands, I am currently entering the last month of a 3 month notice (leaving the business) and therefore I have a few questions in regards to my eligibility for this scheme;

    *Can my employer legally enforce me to take furlough leave under the job retention scheme whilst I am effectively already leaving the business under notice conditions?

    *Do I have an option to reject the furlough leave and seek redundancy instead? As I am still employed under this contract until 30th April 2020.

    *Would there be a possibility to seek gardening leave conditions as an alternative and receive 100% monthly salary?
