i bought a car for my daughter and the garage registered it in my name because i paid for it.* I later transferred it to her name.* Since then she has changed it for another car.* In* December 2019 I received a letter from a solicitor asking me to pay an outstanding parking fine from 3 years earlier.* I didn't recognise the registration number of the vehicle they had listed so i phoned them to tell them they had made a mistake and they in turn told me that the DVLA had given them my name as the registered owner. I argued with them that I knew nothing about this vehicle and was adament they had made a mistake.
When my daughter came in I told her what had happened and showed her the letter and it was then that she told me that it was her vehicle.* I then wrote back to the Solicitors apologising but explaining that I had never ever driven the vehicle and they should contact my daughter.* By the way my daughter is adament that she never had a ticket on her car and neither her or i have received a letter about it although Napier are insisting that they wrote to us. The first I knew about this parking ticket was the Solicitor's letter in December 2019. A couple of weeks ago I had a court summons about this vehicle and I responded telling them the same thing.* I have had further corresponce from the court and also the Solicitors who want me to either talk to a Mediator or go to the small claims court and I just don't know what to do.* My husband and I are pensioners living on a state pension and i cannot afford to pay this escalated fine.* Any help or advice would be much appreciated..**
