  • Loft Conversion

I am helping my niece with her loft conversion (volunteering) During storm Ciara a small amount of water entered the loft of the neighbours house. I immediately went over to the property and recovered the lifted felt and covering. I went into the neighbours house which is tenanted and apologised and said I would repair any damage if any appeared, at that time nothing was apparent. I then received a very aggressive text from the Landlord advising me that the situation was "intolerable" and that something had to be done. I politely replied back and apologised and said that I would repair any damage that had occurred. His response was that he didn't want me to repair it he wanted paying ! I have now received from him a bill for repair, loss of earnings and loss of rent ! My question is this I am happy to pay him for repairs but am I liable for the rest ? he apparently must earn £600 an hour !
