  • Lowell Solicitors letter

Hi , looking for some advice on what to do now. I had broadband with talk talk 4 years ago, me and my ex partner got kicked out of our rental due to the landlord wanting to sell it. Talk talk would not transfer our contract to a new address so I cancelled the contract. I have none of the paperwork from 4 years ago. I do have emails from talk talk and one month they were saying outstanding debt of £20 odd then that changed to £50 and then heard nothing for a while and it changed to £300 odd. I cant even remember seeing the emails , had a lot of crap happen in the time after moving out (ex had 3rd degree burns which led to our employer not giving us shifts and fell pregnant and ended up moving back home to our original home town). startsd getting letters a couple of months back from lowell financial stating that I owed £458 odd to them as they had bought the debt from talk talk. I've just received a notice of acting letter from lowell solicitors saying that If i fail to pay or contact then they will initiate court proceedings. I know I messed up and should have played the £50 odd but my head was well and truly battered back then and I dont understand how it went from £50odd after cancelling the contract to over £300. I found an email off talk talk back in early 2016 stating that I would not pay early termination charges and would only have to pay for the service I had used. What do i do next , i am a single parent who is studying a degree so dont exactly have nearly £500 spare to pay them , do I set up a payment plan or wait to see if they take me to court or dispute the correct figures with them , I dont believe I owe that much. Thanks in advance
