  • Employee Rights During Insolvency

The company I work for has recently gone into insolvency and administrators have taken over, I work as a Marketing Coordinator and I am the only Marketing person in the company. They have refused to make me redundant as I am part of the selling package to a potential buyer and because others will want to be made redundant as well.*

My current job role in marketing has 0% of work, so I am doing nothing, 3 of my managers have said to work on getting myself a job, work from home and just be contactable. Now I have had an email today saying I need to work in a different department temporarily, move from my own office and work as an admin person because I have nothing to do. I spoke to a legal company because the new role is not any part of my job role or contract, they told me to tell the company that and they have now said "because of the company being under administrators it is reasonable for them to ask me to work this different job role for a short term.*

Do I have the right to say I will not do anything that is out of my contracted job activities or are they right in saying I have to do any job they tell me to?*
