My stepson has done something foolish, I believe. Approximately a year ago, he took out a logbook loan from a well known lender. At the time he was working in a shop and provided wage slips for the loan showing this.
the salesman told him he would pay him if he signed some forms for him. In desperate times, he did so and was paid £45. Approx 9 of these forms.*
It turns out the forms were I believe affidavits. It was a piece of paper signed by the salesman that my stepson signed as witness. (Witnessing the salesman signature but nobody else’s). He can’t recall if he wrote “solicitor” or if he ticked it, but it was certainly implied. The salesman told him this was “the most appropriate option related to his degree”.
These forms along with logbook loan applications were filed at the high court.*
My stepson is now worried that someone will request a copy of their bill of sale, and will see this form, realise he is not a solicitor and report it.
the salesman said he has done this many times before with another person (who my stepson doesn’t know) and nothing has been noticed.
what would the likely outcome of any investigation be, he is terrified of prison time as he has a young child he has full custody of (mum is mentally unwell).
