  • Switching Fredrickson Standing Order to Lowell Direct Debit..?

I have a debt (Cap One) and I have been paying Fredrickson via standing order for at least the past 3 years.
They recently wrote to me to say that the debt is reverting to Lowell Financial Ltd and I would now need to pay Lowell by direct debit. Fredrickson called me 3 days ago and I did an affordability assessment and they agreed to the same amount going forward by direct debit to Lowell. They told me to cancel the standing order as the direct debit would now take over payments.

However, I have just received a letter from Fredrickson thanking me for switching to direct debit. There is no mention I will be paying Lowell direct. The only mention is in the top right corner of the letter which states: Our client - Lowell Financial Ltd. The letter also stated Fredrickson will review my situation in 6 months.

I have since found out that Fredrickson is part of the Lowell Group. So does anyone know if this is genuine reason (ie Fredrickson are passing the debt back to Lowell for collection) or is there another motive for doing this. I know I have control over Standing orders but not direct debits. I don't mind as long as I am being told the truth by Fredrickson. Has anyone else had this happen to them recently?
