  • Van garage work and timescales unacceptable

    hi

I had a problem with my van engine so took it to a recommended local garage , after there advice I was told that the engine was not repairable so they advised on a reconditioned engine at the cost of £1500 installed within 5 days and it would be back on the road , £1100 to be paid up front to cover the engine cost . This was done , after over 2 weeks I was told that there was a problem regarding the clutch arm and it was bent , which it wasn’t when the old engine was in , so an additional £525 was needed to be able to get the reconditioned engine in , after 5 weeks , I pick the van up pay the balance so in total £2025 .
i drove 5 mile to home , the next day the oil coolant which should be clear water coolant was full of oil , so it went back , I have had the van back now another 3 times in total 7 days and it as broke down , I’m now 15 weeks without the van , losing business as I’m self employed , nearing £2000 in hire van costs , the garage is in Castleford to be told the van in Hull , I can’t get a straight answer from the garage owner , or find out where in Hull my van is , or when it will be back . I go to the garage every week , phone w wry other day with the promise I will call you back which never happens .
I don’t know what my options are as the garage have no intention of covering my hits costs in anyway .

    Any advice would be great

    thanks
