Can you help? I am a landlord, need some advice, we rent a property around the corner, the next door neighbours to our tenants are completing building construction (the houses are attached) The building work started late October last year, we notified the tenants and and an agreement was drawn up from the owners next door, & landlords agreeing to keep noise levels down & working within correct hours etc to avoid very minimal disruption to our tenants etc. We had one small issue two months ago where the builders were working on a Sunday morning causing noise, we quickly went around and asked the builders to stop politely. Since then we have no further issues until this morning, our tenants are now asking for a reduction in their rent due to noise levels, this is the first we have heard of are we obliged to deduct this. Surely this is out of our control, it is the neighbours house in which they have full legal building regulations to proceed. I am fully aware this must be a nuisance to our tenants but what can we do? We simply cannot afford to reduce rent on our property. Any advice greatly received.
