  • Inspiration, the 2 year old way!IO

    Friends,

I have a dear best friend that I class as a brother, who has adopted 3 special needs children, a girl and 2 boys. My niece is known as Floppsy, its not her real name but it suits her!

When they adopted their daughter, she had been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. They were told point blank, she will not move, roll over, sit up or walk.

The first few days they let her bond with her brother (only had 1 boy at the time) then said, "if you want to play with your sister, do it just out of sight on the floor. If she wants a toy that is on her quilt, she has to get it. If it's off her quilt, you can get it for her."

Within a month Floppsy (aged 8 months) was wriggling and showing interest in life.
Within 2 months, she suddenly rolled over and looked at them all.
within 3 months she could hold her head up and was reaching for things.

Nothing changed for a few months, except that she started to babble. If she wanted anything, she rolled.

YESTERDAY: in front of her dads, she suddenly grabbed the sofa and up she got, she took her dolly and 3 steps towards my brother cooing Daaaaa da! She fell on her backside, shuffled to his legs and up she got again. Agreed she looked a little like Bambi on the ice, but she had that determination on her face, and she will NOT be beaten!

The moral of my post is, no matter how many times you fall, get up.. dust your self off and start again.
If Floppsy can do it.. so can you
