Icesave: Darling promises Ł800m compensation to savers

Alistair Darling has today confirmed the government is to provide Ł800m of compensation to people who lost money in Icelandic banks.
In a written parliamentary statement, the chancellor said the money would also guarantee individuals' bank savings up to a limit of Ł50,000.
