  • Northumbrian Water default

    Afternoon chaps and chapesses,

Last week I received a notification via experian of a change to my credit file. So I went on and checked, and Northumbrian Water had added a £780 default. I know this will be for my old address I left a year ago and did owe a balance. I emailed at the time stating I was moving from the address on XX date but as I was in the process of moving, I didn't notice the proper moving home form or it didn't exist then, and sent a generic email but no account info stating the address and date I was leaving. This was August 2013. Fast forward to now, having not given it another thought tbh, they still had me listed as living there. So I got written confirmation off the old landlord of when I left and emailed them reducing the amount owed but they still say the default stands yet I left the property long ago and all paperwork related to it was sent there. The new tenants kept and used a bank card in my partners name via PayPal to steal £100 even after we asked if there was any post there for us so they aren't exactly model citizens who will pay their own way. That's another story however and resolved long ago although the police were called off by the bank:tinysmile_aha_t: (their error sending a card to the wrong address)
So, obviously I'm agreeing a payment schedule with them but what can I do about the default as they state it stands as paperwork was sent to the last known address for me and have no record of me contacting them to leave that address.
