  • New build apartment with an unregistered electricity meter

    Hi

I moved into brand new property in August this year. The building is still partly under construction in some areas and is around 50 percent occupied. When I moved in I tried to set up my electricity account but was told that I can’t as the electricity meter has not been registered and that it takes up to 8 wees for it to be registered.

I’m worried that I’m going to be given a really high bill as I cannot see any rates that I am currently on or view any of my usuage at the moment.

What worries me is that when the account does get set up eventually will they want me to pay it straight away as I’m worried I’m going to be in loads of debt because of this my friend told me I should not be liable for the electricity whilst the meter is not registered as the builders before me could have racked up a lot of usage at the start.

Any advice on this would be very great full.

    Thank you
    Tom
