Somebody using my details to open bank accounts

Hi legal beagles,
I am extremely worried due to receiving 2 letters from different banks confirming that my new account is now available, from one of the banks I also received a new debit card as well as the pin number for the card, I immediately contacted the banks and informed them I have not opened any accounts and I am extremely concerned that someone is using my information to open bank accounts in my name, I have checked noddle and cannot see these accounts, please can you advise as to what I can do to prevent this from happening, I have an excellent credit score and am so worried someone is trying to steal my identity and put me into serious deBT please can you help

If they think this is you could a subject access request to the bank be appropriate you may be able to get copies of the documents used in the attempted fraud.

Are any of your documents held online or have you recently used photo id on line there have been a breach there. If you have any documents on your pc then run a virus checker , infact run two different virus checkers.

The banks must have a photo copy of the documents used to open the accounts this should include photo id ?

Thank you for all your advice, it's looks like these accounts were opened online so not sure what Id they have been using, I am in the process of contacting action fraud as suggested in an earlier reply, hopefully this will put an end to the fraud

The banks must have a photo copy of the documents used to open the accounts this should include photo id ?

First of all welcome to legal Beagles you wil get some help here .
I would check to make sure that you where your passport birth certificate and driving licence are . To open a bank account you need Identification, could you have had someone steal this or borrow it ? This is fraud, report it to action fraud . You will get an acknowledgement but they don't talk to the public on a general basis . You maywant totalk tothe police but they not be interested as you have suffered no los yet .

Make sure that any person documents you put out for recycling have you identifiers removed.

Hi and thank you for responding so quickly, I have checked and double checked that all my documents are in my possession and I have them all, I am extremely confused how somebody is managing to continue to open accounts in my name, the banks have replied to me saying I am now on cifas, however I was already on this when someone managed to open a second account with a £1200 overdraft and the card and pin were sent to my address, I will contact action fraud and hopefully they can prevent this from happening
