Hello, I'm about to carry out a voluntary termination of my car contract but I'm really confused about the mileage charges and worried that I'm way over my allowance! Please could someone help me?
My contract started in October 2016 and is a 42 month contract, so after 42 months I have to either pay the remaining amount or hand the car back. However, I was told that I could hand the car back earlier than this
My total mileage allowance for the whole 42 months is 28,000 miles, and any excess miles will cost me 6p per mile. I'm currently 33 months through the contract and have done 29,000 miles. I know that I will definitely be charged for excess mileage, but will they just charge for the extra 1,000 or can they pro rata the allowance?
i.e will they say I'm only allowed 666.67 miles per month, so at 33 months I should only have 22,000, and then charge me £420 for the extra 7,000? Or can they only charge me £60 for the additional 1,000?
I'm really worried about this charge and any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

, as long as I'd paid half the total value of the car, which I now have. My total mileage allowance for the whole 42 months is 28,000 miles, and any excess miles will cost me 6p per mile.
