A visit to my sister in Bath ended with a PCN for £70.
I did not realise that the road is in a resident permit holder’s only zone and i should have purchased a digital visitor permit. I’m at fault for not seeing the 2 large signs that i drove past. Too busy looking at road names trying to find my sister’s road was the reason i did not see them.
I’ve read on other forum sites that non London councils can only charge £50 for not having a digital permit because the contravention is not listed as a £70 PCN in the legislative guidance for non London councils.
I was going to lodge an objection to the £70 PCN but my sister felt responsible and without my knowledge, she paid it.
I’m not happy with being overcharged. I don’t want to go off half-cock so I’m researching this in more depth with other non London councils that issue digital permits to see what responses i get.
With the appeal process closed off, should I make a formal complaint or do members here recommend an alternative way to have this looked into?
