  • Wrong address on warrant of control

    Hi all

First post, sorry if this has already been discussed.

In essence, I moved over a year ago and had royal mail redirect set up but it stopped some months ago. Letters went to old address and weren't forwarded on to me, not necessarily the new residents' faults.

Today I was passed a letter from the new owner from a bailiff at Equita. It's a removal notice for total amount of £514.

I received a parking ticket from local council near work a while back and this is the first I have heard about it. The address on the enforcement notice is my old address as I hadn't update my logbook (my fault I know). My question and need for advice is - are they able to recover funds still? I am more than happy to pay the £204 to the council, even the £75 compliance fee but I really don't want to have to pay the additional £235 on top.

From what I have read the £235 is the bailiffs own fee so naturally when I spoke with him he said there wasn't anything that could be done. I saw another post that stated that as the address is wrong, they would need to re-serve the paperwork to my new address and this would essentially then give me the chance to pay at the compliance stage, totalling £279.

Any help would be really appreciated!
