  • Boat squatters

Hi , thank you in advance of any advice ..

I bought a canal boat a year ago , I haven't been able to use the boat for the last 5 months due to covid regulations.
I returned to my boat today to find two people living there , and claimed to have bought my boat .
I explained I was the owner and had not sold it to anyone!
I felt intimidated by the two guys so called the police , they showed ..we had a to and frow about ownership, I said I would be back tomorrow with the police including paperwork and money trails to prove ownership .

These guys broke into my locked boat , claiming ownership..producing only a scrap of paper I didn't know was even on the boat (they won't show this scrap) ...

I will attend the local police station tomorrow morning with evidence of ownership ...

My question is , .... What do I call this ? Burglary? Theft ? .. there has been a small amount of damage ..

I would very much appreciate any direction on this matter , it is causing me a lot of stress thinking I could loose my boat
