Although tempted to throw all your stuff away, by all means put it outside but keep it till the Insurance Co have assessed it.
A small minority will jump on the bandwagon in these horrendous situations and the Insurance Cos will be will aware of this and unwilling (as always) to cough up with little or no proof.
