Hi I would appreciate some advice if any one has seen this happen before.
The story.
last October 2012 I had a letter from NRAM formally Northern Rock saying that my Mortgage payment had not been paid on time and had been paid late for the month of September, Amazed at this I phoned them as I was never late with my Mortgage and was informed that due to a clerical error on their side that some sort of process takes place where they have to apply this to my account and this did not happen and they apologised . I asked at the time if this would effect my credit rating as a late payment and they said no. Believing this life carries on until about 4 week ago I was at a loose end and knowing I have access to my credit report through my bank I registered upon looking at the report it is broke down to the lenders I owe money to and to my horror I had a late payment against me from October last year. I phoned NRAM who said this was not possible and they needed proof. ( Very Unhelpful ) I got a snap shot off the screen and sent it to them on the 28th august instructing them to remove this. On the 3rd of September this year last week to my horror the same issue had happened again. I phoned them up and raised formal complaint as for this to happen twice within 12 months is unacceptable. A letter arrived today acknowledging my complaint for this year but missing out last years issue I raised at the same time. It said that they were sorry and this was their fault but offering me a £50 goodwill gesture for any distress it had caused. I phoned them today to ask about last years fiasco that had still not been sorted and she said she would take responsibility to ensure the black Mark was removed from my credit score for last year.
Question
I have had a late payment against me on my credit score for nearly 12 months now. Within the last 12 months I have got car finance and a visa card would this late payment have any bearing on the credit agreement namely APR I was offered if so a big injustice has been done what can I do about it should I write to the FOS.
Any advice would be great.
Cheers.
Steve.
