We live in a rural area and right by our house is a small farm that has been converted to a small business park. The units are rented to different businesses and on top of that because of the rural area there are a number of animals that can be a little noisy at all times of the night and day. The animals are fine, we are used to living in the country and respect the animals will chat amongst themselves at whatever time they want to.
However, it can make the rest of the noise from the other units a bit frustrating at times. It is not loud, loud noise, it is the comings and going of the business owners. However, they can be a bit inconsiderate sometimes and forget that they are surrounded by residential premises, especially as there have been businesses that operated 24/7. Because of a combination of the different businesses, the animals and the fact that noise really seems to carry (two people in the car park having a conversation can be heard) it can mean that some days it seems that the noise is never-ending. Several of my neighbours don't sleep with their windows open because of the noise from a previous business.
My thread though is to ask, just recently a personal trainer has rented one of the units and during their sessions plays their music loud with the door open and also conduct part of the sessions in the car park. So imagine 20 minutes of someone bouncing a medicine ball off a car park floor. At the moment he has only done a few sessions but I would imagine he wants to grow the business so we may find that we are subject to the car park being used as a gym a lot more.
I will speak to the owner of the units but I wanted to understand if legally he is allowed to use the car park? What would be construed as excess noise if I was to complain? Any other tips that may help that you may be able to provide.
I don't want to stop them from growing their business but I also don't want to spend the summer with my mornings, evenings and weekends top and tailed by someone bouncing a ball off the floor.
Thank you in advance for your help.
