Hullo!
I am in the process of preparing a (anticipatory...) DCO for a magistrate's court and I am a bit confused as to procedure.
I understand that I can claim as a litigator 2/3rds of the limits set out in the rates and scales in respect of defendant’s costs orders for legal aid, but on reading the .gov website it states under expenses that only qualified lawyers can make a claim for hours worked or spent preparing a case.
When I fill out form 5911 am I likely to have the sections relating to travel and waiting dismissed? I'm also seeing somewhere (apologies for lack of specific reference, I've got about a million tabs open on my PC and I'm going cross-eyed at similar but contradictory advice...) that the 5911 can only be submitted by a solicitor?
There appears to be plenty of advice on what to do about asking for costs, but it isn't clear what exactly should be done, as no-one seems to have actually told the interweb they've managed it on their own.
Also, defence cost order, or wasted cost order?
Aagh! Confused.
Cheers
Tony
