My husband & I work on a private estate & have done for 8yrs. 2 years ago the son inherited, but our job & employment package stayed the same. At the time the boss said "we don't plan to change your contract, as it's better for you if your work record is continuous". Fine we were happy, nothing changing. But do we have rights still?
Two years on and we have been told "If between now & summer you find employment, go for it. A lovely luxury, but something we could cut".
We each work a 40hr week & our cottage, c-tax, electric & heating oil are included (we're then taxed on that of course).
If worst comes to worst & by summer we can't find a job, what rights do we have please if any? Redundancy? 8yrs or 2yrs?
Home wise, can we be made homeless & jobless?
Too many questions & a lottery win seems my best solution so far.
