  • Overpayment Problems

I started work for a company temporarily from Jan-March 2014 and after I left, I received an incorrect payment for the month after. After notifying the company and hearing nothing back and not receiving anymore money the following month, I believed that the matter was solved. However, after being asked to rejoin them in August on a perm basis, I have received no pay since.

Firstly I was told I'd missed the cut off point for pay so would receive it in September, then I was told I hadn't been put back on payroll, then to be told again that I had missed the cutoff point.

As the company have picked up on the overpayment, they are demanding it in full, leaving myself with no money at all and unable to afford to go to work tomorrow. I understand that the payment needs to be deducted but other employees have informed me I can do this through a payment plan until the end of the financial year.
I've been chasing this up for the past two weeks and have also been told that I owe three times the amount that I was ever overpaid. In this time I have discovered that after leaving I was left on a zero hours basis and payslips were never given/sent to me until I returned to work.

Having shown the employer all of my bank statements they will only offer me a repayment plan which still totals the amount three times higher than what my bank states. I have also been sent messages by my manager offering them to personally lend me money so I can get to work and now I feel pressured into just agreeing with them.

I have maxed out my overdraft for this job as they promised training and promotions in return for leaving my previous job and rejoining them.

    Any help would be amazing!
