Does anyone know what a fair amount of time is for giving a weekly rota that can be changed by giving 24 hours notice.
On my contract it states my hours and
"To be worked on a rota basis agreed in advance with your manager"

Di, in the two years you have been there, have the rota's always been done the same way until the new witch arrived?
There's something called "Custom and Practice" which can imply that this is the way the contract now works as it has been working in this way for some time and the employees have become used to this way of working.

They have to give a certain amount of notice in order to change the terms of your contract don't they? Can't just do it at the drop of a hat. How long have you been there now?

Yes wends I know that is the easy way with rotas but there is no fixed method or rules on it.
I was contracted 12 - 15 hours per wek but accepted a drop to 9- 10 cause of drop in business am not prpared to drop anymore

I phoned acas but not about that specifically, I have trawled tinternet and there is no law about it at all, just depends on your contract and then in terms of employment for more details usually in staff handbook.
The thing is we have no set working hours in this job it is all put down to 'For the needs of the business' so in fact they can get away with murder and so far at our place have done so.
I doubt I will keep my job tbh but I will not go without having a scrap and getting my feelings across.

The way I interpret that is that your manager should discuss it with you before changing your hours, but hey I could be wrong. Anyways she should show good manners speak to you first and not expect you to just phone up on a Sunday for the following weeks hours, that in itself is total nonsense.
