  • Advice on prospective employer informing current employer of interview

    Hello,

I was recently recommended to a job by Employer B. I applied and have reached a final stage interview. I have since found out that Employer B has informed the CEO of my current employer that I am interviewing (this contact was not to seek a reference). Since being informed, my CEO has told two of my colleagues that I am interviewing with Employer B. Both colleagues have informed me that our CEO has told them this.

Has anything illegal taken place here? Specifically with regards to a breach of data privacy?

Aside from any legal considerations, the situation has caused me acute stress and anxiety as a result of the breach of trust from both parties (Employer B and my CEO).

Any advice/thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
