I have a bit of a dilemma regarding a timeshare company I am currently working at, let me explain the best I can
I am a self-employed kitchen fitter. Once a year, a timeshare company asks me to fit kitchens in their timeshares, usually for one month.
But this year, they wanted more kitchens fitted, which would have kept me busy for three and a half months and I have made my time available to them for the work. The general manager of the timeshare, who has never interfered before, has suddenly stepped in and started demanding that things need to be done his way.
I don't have a problem so long as it doesn't interfere with the timescale of the work I need to do, but after 2 kitchens have been ordered and delivered the manager has now decided to put a hold on the work because he feels he needs an architect to come in and look at the area where the 2 kitchens are to be fitted.
It now means I have no work for 2 weeks, I have work booked for three weeks time and cannot bring them forward as those customers have been given a start date and arranged plasterers, electricians etc to prepare for me to come and install their kitchens.
The Manager knew I was meant to start on these two kitchens this coming week but told us to hold work 4 days ago, the supplier has told them they have to pay for the kitchens because they received them Wednesday in readiness and cannot send them back to the manufacturer as they are made to order.
I have already mentioned to the site manager (who I normally go through) that I will need remuneration for lost work and she was not best pleased with me, I've had a very good working relationship with this manager for a few years and understand her frustration with my comment but I need to earn money to pay the bills and I don't think I'm being unreasonable with my request if this general manager is putting barriers up to stop the work.
I know it will affect future work with the timeshare company but the damage had already been done as soon as the general manager stepped in a couple of weeks ago interfering with work already completed
