So it seems Lowell/Barclaycard are going after a lot of people. Can someone help with my case? I received a letter today from Barclaycard, in which I called them back as concerned it was in relation to my current account which is in good standing. I could not get thought the security to find out what card it was relation to as it’s apparently from a long time ago, but the agent made a throw away comment it could be in relation to a EGG card. I advised I used to have one but settled all payments and cleared it many years ago. (Didn’t want to take owness that it possibly wasn’t cleared off)
This card goes back to 2002-2003 . I have made no payments and no contact since around 2006. I remember it being chased for a bit then nothing. I am aware there could be a debt on this card, but as I have not been contacted for so long I thought it would be statute barred. (20 years nearly)
she said I would receive a letter in the next 30 days from Lowell and it will tell me exactly the sum etc.
where do I stand with this? It’s nearly 20 years old! I definitely have not made contact or any payments regarding this card for that amount of time?? What should I do? I have a great credit score now, never miss a payment. Unfortunately my teens I was very reckless. Can anyone tell me what my first steps should be please?

Hello
Has this debt been sold on to Lowell yet? What exactly did the Barclaycard letter say? Was it a 'Notice of Assignment'?
If last payment/acknowledgment was 2012/13 then the account will be time barred but you'll need to make sure by sending a subject access request to Barclays for full details about this account.
I think Barclays are notifying you of the accounts sale to Lowell and you will receive the 'Hello' letter from Lowell demanding payment, the outcome of your subject access request will be crucial to defending this matter.
