New member here - hello

I have mental health issues & have a will.

There is no question of my competency to do so at the time it was formed as I was compesmentus & not detained under any form of mental health legislation.

One of my beneficiaries is my ex-counsellor / therapist / support worker.

I know there is no rule against this.

She is concerned that this could cause issues with my family.

I have spoken with my solicitor who assured me that, as neither of my siblings are financially dependent on me, they would not be able to successfully challenge the will.

Is this all correct & water-tight?

What makes you think that strangers on the internet can give better advice than your solicitor, who has surely been given more detailed information than you have given here?

Have you asked your solicitor the simple question "are you sure?"?

Great your mental health is ok. If the solicitor advising you is registered with the SRA you should have a level of reassurance. Do you have an advance decisions document which can be a companion to any Will. I presume the Will was drawn up by solicitor and witnessed etc. It’s worth checking the Mind website which has information on Advance Decisions and Lasting Power of Attorneys.

All solicitors in England and Wales are regulated by the SRA. If this person is not, they should not be calling themself a solicitor.
