Selling a house, deceased's estate

Hi,

I hope I've come to the right place.

It's a bit complicated but I hope somebody will be able to advise.

Our brother in law (a widower whose wife died ten years ago) left his whole estate to charity. We are the executors. of his estate. His wife had left her half of the house to us. We now have the property on the market but would like to find out if the cost of conveyancing and estate agent fees will come out of the estate of our brother in law.

Any advice appreciated.

Surely the cost is to be borne equally by the two estates.
