Hello everyone I’m looking for a little advice before I go down the legal route, my mother passed away in December, she lived with my sister, ten days before she passed a new will was made (I don’t know what was in the first one) in this will my half sister was the main beneficiary, one of the witnesses to what looked like a will template of the internet was one of my sisters friends, the over witness was the a civil partner to another beneficiary, he didn’t inherit a lot but this doesn’t sit well with me, my mother had two over sons and we got on ok, any thoughts much appreciated.

You would need to gather evidence to see whether this will can be challenged on grounds such as the mental capacity of your late mother or undue influence.

Additionally, the gift to the civil partner of the witness fails under s15 Wills Act 1837 which makes such gifts void. This is applied to civil partnerships by https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga.../4/paragraph/3
