  • Letters of administration

    Hi,

I’m after some advice please. My father passed away some years ago, although no will was found. For some unknown reason it occurred to me to check the Gov probate site only the other day. To my utter amazement I found letters of administration had been issued only a few weeks before.

I paid and gained a copy, informing me that my sister had in fact been granted administer. There’s only her and me.

However and here’s the question. I do not trust my sister. We alhave also had another dispute over another will in the past. Phoned the probate office and they said there was nothing they could do. ?

How do I know I’ve been included on the PA1A form?

Seems totally wrong that they don’t even need to name you but just simply indicate there’s ‘x number’ of siblings . Also no letters from the Probate dept telling you you’ve been named. Really?! Seems totally open to fraud!

What steps should I take next ? Seemingly the estate has only been valued at 3k . I’m not sure how she arrived at that figure either.

furthermore , don’t wish to consult a solicitor and run up a bill more than the expected inheritance.

    Thank you for reading.

Have you spoken to your sister about this?

What inheritance do you expect? From what source (property, bank account, other things)?

Why did you do nothing in the years since your father died?
