  • Mothers will

Hi, my mother made a will a few years ago that stated that I’m the sole beneficiary to her money (mainly made up of insurance money paid out upon her death)

she has two other biological children that she has no relationship with, and they are not mentioned in the will at all.

upon her death would her will be fulfilled with no contact made to her other children? I know they wouldn’t contest the will but my concern would be they money being automatically shared out even though a will is on place.

    thanks

The Will gifting her estate to you only should give details of why the other two children are not to share. Alternatively a letter of wishes done at the same time with the solicitors would work.

There is no guarantee that the other two children would not contest the Will as there has to be a really good reason for them to be excluded. It may also be beneficial for the Will to appoint two executors and not just yourself, if that is the case. as it may be seen that you are in some way controlling the situation.

Is there a property involved and if so what is it's value and the value of any other assets which would need to be declared?
