  • Stated in Will - Have to leave if I were to marry - why? is it common ?

    Hello Everyone
I've got an old Will here..which I got from the ProbateGov website just yesterday.. although I was a beneficiary at the time - I never got to see it.

What is surprising is that it has a core provision for me to stay in the deceased's house but only as long as I did not marry!..once married then the property assets would be sold and monies shared between beneficiaries. For me at the time it was a reason not to hang around ..as certainly I expected and wanted to marry in the future..so made my own way in life and moved on and moved out to start my own path.. Is it that a new spouse could lay claim to the assets as well? I just don't understand at the moment what the problem was and why this was a core provision of the will!...any help most appreciated to help work this out. Thankyou!
