If she is on benefits and low income she should get the grant and it will be repaid once the estate is sorted. Is she the only beneficiary? If so and the estate is very minimal once she has informed the bank of his death she may be able to withdraw monies from any accounts her dad held to help pay for the funeral without having to get letters of administration. She also may be able to pay the funeral directors in instalments until the pension pays out.
