  • British Gas Business

Ooops I posted my query in the wrong section sorry first time user!

I was wondering if anyone could help with a British gas problem i'm having.

All though I am a residential customer when I moved into a rented property my landlord had us on a Business account. We tried to move across to Domestic in June but were told it would take 40 days due to a backlog but in the meantime they would bill us at residential rates due to the fact we were renters.

Every month the bill was extortionate as they did not bill us at domestic rates and every month i rang up asked them to recalculate and send an adjusted bill.
They never sent it and now I have a bill for £1779. I have argued this and the new bill is £500 which i have agreed to pay. But in January an extra £690 was added to the account for underestimating the usage.

My electricity was changed over in August, but my gas was only changed over in December - 6 months after i asked to be domestic.

The Underestimation came from a metre reading in September, and they are now claiming that that money is for 31/07/09 until 7/09/09!

Can I refuse to pay this as if they had transferred me when they said they would this would have been charged at Domestic rates and not Business?

After speaking to their customer service team every month since June 09 and also after sending a complaint to their head office i feel like i am getting no where.

    Thanks

      Hi Red,

I hope that BG will see sense, but in the meanwhile a read of this might be useful:-
