  • Single Person 1 bedroom flat - annual metered water bill £851.16

Hi each and all I am pulling my hair out with "Northumbrian Water" I have been having issues for over a year now with them - my water bill appears unrealistically high - I have no leaks and an "Expert" checked my meter yetserday by filling one of my jugs ( He even asked me how many ML are in 1 LTR - he says the meter is fine and the problem must be down to me having a large shower head - I have checked every metric - including A.I and also others in similar situation and the consensus appears to be same = MY BILL IS INSANE - I pay the bills under duress most of the time as they are very eager to place negitive information on my credit file ( I have had 3 x negative marks removed by these previously ) does anyone in a similar position have similar bills ?

    Kind regardsin advance
    Darren

From your bills are you able to post the number of m3 of water the bill states you used in the last 12 or 6 months?

Also the £rate per m3 for supply and the £rate for treatment of waste water

It might be an idea to send "Northumbrian Water" a Subject Access Request, they have 30 days to provide all the data they hold.
Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

'he says the meter is fine and the problem must be down to me having a large shower head'

Just to add that is ridiculous, but that can be tested if you want to.

This is just a very rough example, A bill for 51,000 litres (140 litres per day) of water would be approximately £247.43 for the water itself, and £154.80 for wastewater, according to Thames Water. These charges are based on 1 April 2025 rates,
