I have had my RRS 2016 on finance with Alphera for the nearly the last 5 years. I have never missed a payment, have had all the services done at a RR approved garage, all updated so full service history and looked after this vehicle. Just four weeks after its last major service (£1800) without any warning it started to make a bumping noise, recovered by RAC to garage that does all its servicing and report came back it has a broken crankshaft. Estimated repair cost £15,000. The total mileage is 121,000 and does not exceed my mileage allowance. My agreement ends at the end of June and the balloon payment is £8,500. The issue I have is that I am left with a vehicle that I cannot use, the repair cost is more than the value of the vehicle and I am not in a position to refinance a car that I cannot use. I am trying to work out what my options are and had a helpful conversation with a lady in customer services today. I can terminate my agreement as I am so far along and they will send out someone from BCA to inspect the car, value it and take it to auction and it will be sold, and I will be invoiced for the difference between what it is sold for and their valuation. What I cannot seem to get an answer for is : will it be valued as it is , i.e. a non running car in need of an engine , or will it be valued as if it were a perfectly fine car . Can anyone out there give me some advice on how to proceed or have they been here too ..? any advice much appreciated
