In the witness statement. A new numbered paragraph for each dated event. Evidence such as letters, e-mails etc should be cross-referenced

You need to put the timeline of events in chronological order giving more details on what's happened.Originally posted by PussInBoots View Postok, thanks for that.
I also have Timeline of events, should this be in the Witness Statement or is that separate documents?
Here's an example - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Gl...n%20claims.pdf

You can do, but you will still need to give details regarding the main events, remember you are making your case.Originally posted by PussInBoots View Postok, I assumed I would add a timeline of events document separate from the actual Witness Statement, as the timeline is very long...
A long list of events tells the Judge / Court nothing.

Send the 'bundle' in a folder, remember to send the same to their solicitors.Originally posted by PussInBoots View Postok thanks. The order states that the statement/documents need to be page numbered. Can this also be stapled/hole punched? or should they be left unattached?

Although CPR 32 Evidence is mostly omitted on the small claims track, PD 32 Evidence 15.1 (2) states documents should not be stapled but be securely fastened in a way that does not hinder the reading (turning of pages)
So hole punching and fastening with treasury tags and putting them in a plastic folder or plastic envelope should be okay

Thanks for updating the forum
Is this hearing a preliminary hearing or the final hearing
Please read EX306 "The Small Claims Track" and EX342 "Coming to a court hearing? Some things you should know"
If it is the final hearing both the judge and defendant can ask you questions and you will have the chance to ask the defendant questions. Prepare and write these questions down
If you are very worried and believe you will be too nervous to put your case or answer questions you can take a lay representative with you to speak on your behalf
In a previous post you stated you paid for an auto engineer's inspection report. This report (assuming it justifies your case) should strengthen your claim significantly. You should refer to this report as much as you are allowed to. Hopefully the judge will be swayed by the expert's findingsLast edited by Pezza54; 16th October 2024, 14:29:PM.

You may of done the following:Originally posted by PussInBoots View PostUpdate: A trial date has been given for a Face-To-Face Hearing
Is there any preparations that I will need to make or is it simply the judge asking questions?
You need to prepare a Witness Statement with evidence (documents). Send a copy to the Court and a copy to their solicitors, you should have order / instructions with timelines when you have to submit the Witness Statement with evidence. Normally it's 14 days before the Hearing date.
Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Thanks for the replies,
The letter states 'Notice of Trial Date', face-to-face hearing at a court. I had to pay a £350 fee. I didn't know if there is a preliminary and final hearing.
@ Pezza, yes the inspection report does blame the seller. I was hoping that the judge will already have read everything rather than flicking through it.
Also, I assumed that the judge will be speaking to us separately in his room.
Witness statement and documents were already sent to court and defendant prior to receiving this letter.
Thanks
