  • VT - disagreement on condition charges

Hi all, looking for some advice on how best to proceed with a disagreement over charges for the cars condition. It’s with VWFS and we VT’d a month before the end of a 4 year lease. The costs are £267 in total and cover 3 alloy refurbs and a couple of minor chips in paint. Additionally, the car went back with 2000 miles under the lease agreement.
Unfortunately my wife was present for the BCA inspection and signed for option of “agree with assement but disagree with costs”. Given the lease was in my name, did she have the authority to actually sign for it (Nobody asked any questions at the time).

How best should I proceed? Thanks.

Hi, I am having the same disagrement with RCI financial services. I VT'd my car, 2k under mileage, and have received a bill for damages, I signed to confirm collection and that I disagreed with price (I needed the car gone before the next MOT due so had a time limit). Currently I am arguing that the BVRLA Standard is a higher standard of fair wear and tear and that it treats customers with older cars unfairly, due to the fact that they assess damages on a car the same whether 12 months old or 5 years old. My letter argues that the CAP HPI Vehicle Conditions is a fairer way to assess damage as it takes into consideration the age of a vehicle. I have also argued that the CAP Conditions assessment of an "Average" conditiion equates to reasonable care taken of the vehicle. I used the sticky post "A Guide to Voluntary Termination" to help word my letter. I am waiting on a reply, I only sent this today. I should say I am not disputing the damage, just disputing that it is not reasonable wear and tear. I am happy to share the letter if you would like to see it.
