  • Stamp Duty - Avoiding higher rate

    Hi everyone.

I own a portion of a property with my ex-wife but am looking at purchasing another home with my current partner who already owns a home that we will be selling.

Will I have to pay the higher stamp duty charges even though the house that we will be buying is our residential home?

What will I need to say/provide to HMRC to prove that this is my residential property and should be exempt from the higher rates? Or are they going to tell me to get lost?m

    Thanks in advance.
